What's more intimidating than looking down the barrel of a Stoeger double barrel, 12 gauge shotgun in the arms of a proficient woman shooter determined to protect her home and loved ones? I can not think of anything more devastating, save maybe staring down an M1 Abrams tank on the battlefield!  Stoeger, has created a side by side, maneuverable and easy to shoot, shotgun that was designed and made for self defense.  From its fiber optic front sight, side by side, double barrel shotgun, top and bottom picatinny rails for flashlight and add on sights this baby screams "Buddy, You Picked the Wrong House to Break Into!"

Biden, I strongly suggest you run out and buy the Stoeger Double Defense shotgun for your wife to shoot off the porch with, cause she won't even need to rack it to protect the family politics.(Sorry, for the political image, but I somehow keep getting a visual in my head of Joe cowering in the corner while his wife defends the family estate with a Stoeger!) OK, verbal political cartoons aside... I like this shotgun with its 20" inch barrel and how compact it is.  As a woman, I don't have the long arm reach of most of you tall, lanky, country boys, and a 26 inch skeet gun is just too long and top heavy for me to want to use in close quarters defending the family farm. Yes, I do have a few chickens and we occasionally do get a hungry fox in the yard... but I was referring more to the 2 legged variety of predators that might be thinking of breaking into this hen's house.

When it comes to recoil, it goes without saying that you are going to get some out of any 12 gauge shotgun, but with the right stance and some training, even a small gal like myself can handle a 12 gauge.  Stoeger ported the barrels to channel gasses up and reduce muzzle rise on this model and the ports do seem to make a difference. The effect on night vision of ported barrels is an age old argument, but I don't worry too much about it.  I'm a bit conservative when it comes to shooting at things. With home intruders, I like the philosophy of don't shoot until you can see the whites of their eyes, as I promise when I shoot, I won't miss!

Serena, Jessica and I all shot the Stoeger Double Defense at the range and we had a blast with it.  We started with some rubber ball shotgun shells to get the feel of it and then moved right on up to OO buck.  I have to admit we were like a bunch of sorority girls once the rubber ball one liners started but then this is a gun review and not a monologue so lets keep focused on gun business here.  The safety is on the tang and easy to use, the gun breaks open easily. Shell ejection is manual, so there are no springs to pop the rounds out on the break open, but reloading was easy to accomplish. The barrel selection was automatic first pull fired the right barrel, second pull of the single trigger, fired the leftt barrel. In my opinion this is one solid, balanced, and well made shotgun for home defense.  If there is a down side, I would say it is the limitation of only two rounds...but for a bedside gun that packs a wallop and would big time spoil the day of any home intruder, you can not go wrong with this one. - Anna

Guns and Lace girl Serena Eddy you are exactly the kind of girl that every guy that enjoys the shooting sports dreams of and home invaders and criminals have nightmares about.  Handy with a shotgun, AR-15 and handgun, this young woman knows how to protect herself.  Serena is not only beautiful, she currently works for a property management company and is a savvy business woman. She spends her weekends doing promotional gigs at local events as a spokes model. Don't try to cubbie hole her as a city dwelling, girly girl though, as she knows her way around a tool box and changes her own oil, does her own tune ups and occasionally even swaps out a water pump or two. Growing up a Tom Boy does have some advantages.

Serena is not shy and if you ask her, she is more than ready to debate politics, gun control, Obamacare, welfare and entitlement programs. If you believe the government should take care of everyone, you most likely are in for a long night of debate!
