Do words like special forces, elite troops, clandestine secret agents, Law enforcement, Army Rangers, Navy Seals and women come to mind? Screech to a halt, wait, did She Say Women?! That's right, when it comes to the new Glock 42, I have no problem saying that the Glock Model 42 is as natural a fit for a woman as a closet full of high heeled shoes and designer purses. Now I know the men may think my description might be a bit sacrilegious, but before you guys form a town mob to take me out and burn me at the stake, try to take a look at it from a woman's perspective: the new Glock 42 is a small frame (scaled down version if you will) .380. It comes with all the features of its bigger brother, from trigger safety to magazine release. It feels the same, operates the same and its take down is the same as the bigger form Glock models! In every respect though (and I have tons of respect for this pistol!) it's a Glock! So what does that mean for a woman? This little guy is small enough for a woman to conceal. When you are 5'2" try putting a Glock 23c or a Glock 17 in a bra holster or in a waistband holster in a size 2 pair of skinny jeans!
I know, I know... IT IS NOT a 9mm! Sure, I am empathetic that you guys wanted to see a 9mm in this design and I too hope that Glock will produce one in the future, but this small frame Glock is perfect for concealed carry. Now before you start on caliber, make no mistake a .380 on target is a potent round that when put on target will discourage most anyone that is thinking of doing a gal harm. Best of all, this single stack subcompact is a dream to shoot and fast to transition back on target. With real sights it's deadly accurate too. I translate all this into potent, 6+1 concealable fire power that has lots of teeth on the business end that does not bite your hand every time you shoot it! What that means is practice at the range will accommodate a 50 box of .380, without needing to go home and put your hand in ice to take down the swelling. I love my other .380 but two magazines at the range and I am switching over to a larger handgun to finish my practice because of the snappy recoil of my lightweight carry piece. I was thrilled with the comfortable grip, traditional Glock trigger safety, ambidextrous mag release and everything else I expect in a Glock, just scaled down to girl size. OK, I admit it, Glock isn't promoting this as a girl's gun and they may cringe when they read this, but I am telling you, this is the Bomb when it comes to a woman's handgun for discrete carry. Yes, women can handle full size handguns, no problem, but where to stash them on a small person is a problem. No, I am not going to sell my .40 cal 23C anytime soon, it's great for outside the waistband, open carry but for a garter gun, in the waistband or purse carry I love the Glock 42. Boys don't be embarrassed, that I said all this, you can carry one too, LE will love it as a back up piece. The boys that ride big motorcycles will most likely boot carry them, and I can see them in the all kinds of tough guy, clandestine holsters and uses, but move over guys cause this girl is carrying one too! Does it come in pink? Ummmm, you may have to get yours custom coated for that, but Black is still very slimming and fashionable where I live! So live a little girls, put away your baggy clothing, buy an in the waistband or bra holster (Lisa Looper from Flashbang assures me they're coming soon for the Glock 42) and carry a GLOCK! - Anna LITTLE RED
